Arranging an appointment

To arrange an appointment please telephone 01285 643146 or call at the surgery. Urgent cases will be seen on the same day and emergencies as soon as possible. For routine matters, please try to book two or three days in advance. We allow 15 minutes for each small animal consultation.

We do try to ensure that clients are seen on time, but sometimes examinations take longer and we cannot predict this. If we are running late, please be patient – on another occasion it may be you who needs more time. We would be grateful if you could do everything possible to keep your appointment, and ask that you tell us as soon as possible if you have to cancel.

Home visits

It is always preferable for our small animal patients to be seen at the surgery. We are happy to do home visits, however, if you are unable to bring your pet or it is deemed too ill to travel. Please let us know as early as possible in the day so the vets can plan their schedules.

Emergencies outside normal opening hours

We operate a 24-hour emergency service with on-site nursing assistance. Please telephone 01285 643146 and our dedicated answering service will process your call. You will then be contacted by one of our vets as soon as possible.

Repeat prescriptions and special orders

If your pet is on long-term medication, it will often be possible for us to supply further tablets or medicine without a re-examination every time. It is very helpful to us if you can order such drugs one to two days in advance, especially as we may need to first acquire them from our suppliers. This also applies to special diets we may have recommended. We can only provide this service if you comply with our request to see your pet at regular intervals to ensure that the medication is still effective. This is obviously in your pet’s best interests, and is usually every three to six months. The veterinary surgeon in charge of your case will advise you of the most appropriate interval.

Please do not put undue pressure on our nursing staff to supply medications when a re-examination is overdue.
